Dr. Marvin Appel is the Chief Executive Officer of Appel Asset
Management and Vice-President of Signalert Corporation. Widely respected in the financial field as
a technical analyst, he
appears on radio and TV, speaks at financial seminars and is featured in print media
and on the web. The editor of a highly acclaimed financial newsletter,
Systems and Forecasts, he provides
timely commentary on the markets and on the performance of various investments.
Dr. Appel was educated at Harvard and owns
a patent having to
do with his data analysis work done at MIT. He has a Ph.D. in biomedical
engineering. His work has been published at national and international
conferences.
After graduating medical school,
Dr. Appel completed an internship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General
Hospital in Boston and a residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins in 1995.
He served as a fellow and staff attending at Johns Hopkins Hospital and passed
his anesthesiology specialty boards in 1996. He also served on a volunteer basis
as an anesthesiologist with Operation Smile in its mission to Russia in 1995
where the team performed plastic surgery to repair facial birth defects in
children who otherwise would not have had access to the necessary specialized
care.
Dr. Appel has been applying his
expertise in computer research and mathematical modeling to the stock market analysis and asset allocation. Dr. Appel
develops strategies to reduce risk in aggressive mutual fund portfolios,
through diversification, hedging strategies and trading models designed
to take advantage of shifting relative strength trends in the various market sectors. Dr. Appel also
is expert at selecting exchange traded funds through a combination of fundamental valuation criteria, and
technical indicators.
Dr. Appel is money manager and financial consultant to
numerous business firms, organizations and corporate trusts at Appel Asset
Management, as well as to private clients. He frequently
provides content for some of the most influential financial sites on the web
including forbes.com, theStreet.com, cbsmarketwatch.com, and others. |
