| Marvin Appel, Ph.D., was originally trained as an anesthesiologist at Harvard University Medical School, and John Hopkins Hospital, concurrently earning a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Harvard University where he did his undergraduate work as well.
In 1996, he joined his father, Gerald Appel, in organizing Appel Asset Management Corporation, a company that believes in active asset management with a high emphasis on capital preservation. Dr. Appel has, in recent years, has assumed the editorship of “Systems & Forecasts, a highly regarded investment newsletter founded by Gerald Appel, which continues to receive very high marks for its performance relative to buy and hold bond and stock investment strategie, for its emphasis on risk-control, and for the performance of its investment strategies relative to other such newsletters.
The author and co-author of three books, “Investing with Exchange-Traded Funds Made Easy,” (two editions), and “Beating the Market, Three Months at a Time,” Dr. Appel is currently working on a fourth, “Higher Returns From Safe Investments.” Dr. Appel has been a regular contributor to publications such as Dental Economics, Physician’s Money Digest, and Investment News. His market insights have been featured on CNNfn, CNBC, CBS MarketWatch and Forbes.com. Dr. Appel has presented his investment strategies to numerous organizations such as the Indexing and ETF Summit, various local member organizations of the American Association of Individual Investors, and the Societyof Market Technicians in Washington, DC, among others.
The New York State Legislature has invited Dr. Appel to present his market forecasts to that body, which he has done on various occasions.
